Annoying things customers do

Hey everyone, I have been thinking about writing this post for a few years now as I have always been working in a position where I am dealing with the general public.

I have to admit that I always try and avoid doing these things when I am in their shoes and I absolutely will try to avoid being an inconvenience to anyone. But it turns out 99% of the people serve on a daily bases do not care about these things. So fasten your seatbelts and get ready because we’re going on this journey together...

  • Grabbing things and leaving them in a different place.
Right, so in some people’s defence, I am actually quite bad at remembering where I got things from sometimes but I always make an effort to look for it before I actually give up and leave it. The majority of people do not understand this concept of helping workers and just leave it anywhere really. As an example, I have had people leave a t-shirt on top of the bags. This would have been fine if I didn’t have a rail for the clothes right next to it...

  • Asking for the price without looking first.
Most of the time, people ask for the price and they don’t even look at the packaging. I have had to deal with people that keep arguing there is no price on it, I go around to check it and guess what... The price is right there... This also goes along the lines of when there is no price and I tell it to the customers and they ask “Are you sure?” Well, I am here 5 days a week, I know the prices of the things because I am constantly asked for it.

  • When people open boxes even though they have a sample/the product open right there.
One of the things that deeply annoys me is when people are on one side of a table and reach for something in the other side of the table, as they realise they can’t reach it they decide to open a box to check the product. The whole point of the table is people being able to walk around it and check what is on each side. But it turns out it is too difficult for most people to understand that.

  • The Boarding pass...
For two years now, I have been working in airports. This means asking the dreaded question “Where are you flying to?” Whenever people hear this, it feel like it goes in one ear and straight out of the other because I get this answer back “You want my boarding pass...” Honestly, if I wanted your boarding pass I would have asked for it. Two of the companies I work(/ed) for don’t strictly need the scanning of the boarding pass. This means I can just type up the destination code and we can both cary on with our day. Only when I worked at Duty Free I actually had to start the transaction by scanning a boarding pass (in rare occasions I could just type the flight number) but for that I genuinely asked “Can I scan your boarding pass”...

  • Leaving stuff on the floor
This is the cousin of putting things on the wrong place. It seems like people give up what they were doing, put all the stuff they’ve picked up from the shop and just choose one place on the floor to dump it all. Obviously, you’d expect grown ups to behave better than children, but I’ve noticed that kids are better at putting things back than their parents/older people.

These are only some of the annoying things that customers do that really get on my nerves. If you guys like this post, let me know if I should make another one because trust me there’s so many annoying things that customers do!

Sofia xx
