A New Beginning

From the moment Henry was born, I only had a few hours with Jack and the baby together. We ended up staying in hospital for a whole 7 days.  On the first day, I could barely move. It turned out that I did not know what to expect from a c-section. I knew it would be hard, my muscles would be slices open and sewn back together... But I never realised just how hard (and painful) it would be to do anything. Just moving in the hospital bed was a lot of effort. I managed to get up and go to the toilet after lunch, and that felt like such an accomplishment, I dragged my feet across the floor and ended up making that trip a few times. It helped me to be able to move. What I haven't mentioned to you so far, dear reader, is that when Henry was born he was struggling to breathe. You could hear this noise whenever he took a breath and it was quite scary for both me and Jack when we kept hearing it.  The nurse dismissed it at first but when we kept raising our concerns she called the...

The Last Few Days

Hello everyone, I know I have left you high and dry here, waiting for a new blog post. But the wait is over, you can now read this blog post! This post is so long overdue, I had so much free time and still didn't have enough time to post things online. However I kept on recording what I was doing and what I was feeling.  It has been a rough couple of months: Covid-19 restricting what we can and can't do... Pregnancy making me need a wee every 5 minutes, not being able to walk very quick or very far... Overall, it was such an interesting experience. Nothing felt the same as it once had. I struggled to walk around for more than a minute. If I was going for a walk, I felt as if Henry was starting to stick out of my vagina. It felt strange and a bit painful, but at the same time it made me tired and like I was struggling to move about. Jack and I tried to stay active, walking around Tilgate at least once a week, but as I mentioned I struggled to do it. By the end of the pregnancy I...

Truth is Out

Hey everyone! Long time no post... I had so many things written ready to be posted but somehow ended up getting slightly sidetracked and not posting anything. As some of you already know: I am pregnant. This is one of the biggest changes I’ve gone through in my whole life. I will be trying to explain everything as best as I can. Where to start? Well, from the beginning... I found out I was pregnant just a few days before my birthday. I had all the “symptoms” of my period coming but it seemed like it was late. I kept on getting the typical period pains, the uncomfortable feeling like someone is scratching my uterus from the inside... But no blood followed. I let it slide for a few days until I deemed it long enough to be worth doing a pregnancy test. The first test came out as a faint positive. I was so confused, was it a positive? Am I seeing things? Is that line really there? Stressing out led to me asking Jack to check it as well. He tried to ease my mind with a “it’s prob...

Annoying things customers do

Hey everyone, I have been thinking about writing this post for a few years now as I have always been working in a position where I am dealing with the general public. I have to admit that I always try and avoid doing these things when I am in their shoes and I absolutely will try to avoid being an inconvenience to anyone. But it turns out 99% of the people serve on a daily bases do not care about these things. So fasten your seatbelts and get ready because we’re going on this journey together... Grabbing things and leaving them in a different place. Right, so in some people’s defence, I am actually quite bad at remembering where I got things from sometimes but I always make an effort to look for it before I actually give up and leave it. The majority of people do not understand this concept of helping workers and just leave it anywhere really. As an example, I have had people leave a t-shirt on top of the bags. This would have been fine if I didn’t have a rail for the clothes...

Why the Portuguese hate the Spanish

Image
Hey everyone. You must all be wondering why the title of this post is so specific and has a very strong word - hate - in it. Well, this post is just about the cultural differences and the rivalry that my country has with Spain and how it makes us feel. All in all, we love Spain. Portuguese people love going to Spain for holidays and we really enjoy pretending we speak spanish (Did you know we have our own version of Spanish you know? It’s called Portunhol!) Whilst we love going there for holidays, we absolutely cannot stand it (99% of the time) when spanish people come over to our country. We love the way they bring money to our country and try to help our economy by bringing their whole families for holidays, but it gets a bit ridiculous whenever we go over to Spain. It is all fun and games until the moment that we try to go to a restaurant (or anywhere really) and they pretend they cannot understand what we are saying. My country prides itself on being very polyglot, it means w...

I feel bad

Just the other day, I was at work and I was getting asked random questions by passengers. I was starting to get annoyed when an older lady came up to me and asked me “Excuse me, do you know where I can buy some lipstick?” My mother raised me to be a person that respects her elders so I calmly told her a few places that she would be able to find lipsticks. I watched her walk away but soon my attention was caught on a few customers that I had to serve. They were nice and I did my best to match their level of ‘niceness’. Time went on and about fifteen minutes later, I saw a figure approaching me. “Excuse me, do you know where I can buy some lipstick?” It was the same old lady. I tried to tell her again the places that I had mentioned before, but she just looked very confused. She ended up nodding and saying she knew where Duty Free was, and started walking away. She walked slowly. Her figure looked fragile and I wondered how she had gotten here in the first place. Was she goin...

M.R. #3 Camp Rock

Hi all, I am back again with this segment in this blog. I was recently going through the movie section in Amazon Prime and I found out that I have spent around £8 on Camp Rock a couple of years ago. So I thought: I could watch this movie or waste that money . With that in mind, I decided to sit through the whole movie and relive my childhood as I jammed along Shane Grey and Mitchie Torres. So this will be a review on what I remembered the movie to be compared to what it actually was 10 years later (!!). Right so, here we go! The movie starts with Mitchie trying to pretend like she doesn't know how all these brochures for this amazing music camp found their way into her Mum's cooking/cleaning appliances and her Mum says that camp's too expensive for them so that would be impossible for Mitchie to go. Been there, done that. It takes until Mitchie comes home from school and work to hear the news that she is "GOING TO CAMP ROCK". The only downside to it is t...
