Sightseeing with an Englishman
Hi everyone!
I have recently come back from a holiday in Portugal with my amazing boyfriend. Not only I got to introduce him to my family and friends but I managed to create a lot of memories with him in a lot of different parts of Lisbon.
Let's start from the beginning...
Day #1:
We arrived in Lisbon around 7:15pm and it took around 50 minutes to get our checked bag (looong!). At least we had a chair to sit while we were waiting. Some people weren't as lucky as we were. Unfortunately, I usually feel sick throughout flights and this time was no exception. I felt terrible as we waited. There was nothing I wished more than for our bag to come and let us go home.
Eventually, we got it and proceeded going through the "Nothing to Declare" section of arrivals and saw my Dad and my Aunt waiting for us.
After a quick kiss in the cheek and a tight hug, we managed to say goodbye to my Aunt and go home.
Jack had some hot dogs waiting for him at home, I only had a tea as I was still feeling ill.
Day #2:
We started the day bright and early, we wanted to have as much time as possible to go around Oeiras and the nearby places. I took Jack to the mall and as we walked into Bershka, we found so many amazing clothes that we didn't know where to look first.
After, I took him around town and showed Jack my secondary school and the beach (Praia de Santo Amaro).
We went back home and after lunch we went for a quick trip to Belém. We went to the main tourist points of Belém (we only went to one side of the station, next trip I'll take him to CCB and the Monastery)
Overall it was a nice day with some nice views.
Day #3:
We decided to go to Lisbon on this day. And so we went to Benfica's stadium as well as the mall across the street. We decided to take the Benfica tour by ourselves rather than going with a group and a guide, we managed to take some really nice pictures and in the end, it was very good for us to go at our own pace and take longer when we felt necessary or just walk past some of the parts of the tour.
The stadium looked as beautiful and magnificent as always.
We ended up going home after that as Jack was too tired to go anywhere else.
Day #4:
We didn't do much honestly. I went to the dentist in the morning and then we went to this place near my brother's school and got my passport sorted.
We were tired and we decided to just spend this day on ourselves. We went to the mall after lunch and got some charcoal cleansing cream.
It was a good day to relax and get over all the walk we had done in the past few days.
Day #5:
We went to the mall with my mum and my brother on Friday. I bought myself a nice little outfit with a nice skirt and a jumper and my mother got me a jacket as a birthday present.
Later that day, we put the Christmas tree up.
Day #6:
The family came over and we ended up having lunch with everyone. We were surprised with some gifts from some of my family members such as some nice earings and a new perfume as well (for me), meanwhile Jack got new trainers and a tee-shirt, as well as a painting.
On this day, my mum also launched her website! If you're a chocolate lover, make sure to check out this website! (link below!)
Day #7:
We had arranged for Jack to meet my friend's from Portugal on this day. It was decided that we would meet them in the mall and just hang out for a little while. It was a very chill day!
Day #8:
On Monday we had decided to go back to Lisbon and go to Oceanarium Lisbon.
Of course, I had to start the day with a dentist appointment, but after that it was quite fun!
Just before we went to the Oceanarium, we went for lunch near my dad's work. Afterwards, he ended up showing us Microsoft's lower ground and then he took us to the reception at the beautiful Oceanarium!
We had the chance to go and see all the fishes, sharks and stingrays. Honestly, if you ever find yourself in Lisbon with nothing to do I recommend you going to Lisbon's Oceanarium.
It is amazing when you see Penguins and Otters being all cute and cuddly with their partners.
After that, we went to the Casino in Lisbon and then to the Vasco da Gama mall.
Day #9:
On the next day, we were meant to go to Baixa-Chiado (aka downtown) but it was raining so we ended up just turning around and going home. We spent part of the day at home and then I took Jack to another mall.
Overall it was another chill day.
Day #10:
It was nearly time to go home, but we weren't ready to say goodbye just yet. We decided to go to Lisbon's Downtown on this day. I made sure to take Jack to Terreiro do Paço, Rossio and obviously Chiado.
We went on a Tuc-Tuc and our tour guide (José) showed us all the best spots to take pictures!
Day #11:
On this day, I had to go to the dentist once more to quickly collect my night guard.
So after it, we decided to go and do some shopping for who we got on our Secret Santa draw. We went to Dolce Vita Tejo and honestly, I did not plan on buying two pairs of jeans but hey! It happened!
We got part of our presents sorted and then we decided to head home. Let me just show you some of the adorable decorations they had at the mall!
Day #12:
This is the day we went back to England, we had to go to the dentist again (shock!) because I broke the tooth.
After the dentist, we went to the mall to get the last bits of our Christmas presents and just went back home to spend some last few moments with my parents.
The day went pretty quick because of the dentist and we had to go to the airport very early as well. In the end, the day went so fast and soon we were back in cold, old England.
That was it really. This was our holiday.
