March Birchbox Review
Hi everyone!
As I kept on seeing reviews on youtube for Boxycharm, I started to wonder if it was worth getting myself a subscription box as see how that would be. As I found it impossible to get Boxycharm, I had to find a subscription box in the UK that would be rated well.
I was scrolling past some posts on Instagram when I found Birchbox. I decided to give it a go and see what products I would get.
Let me give you my first impressions on it. From the day I ordered it until the day it arrived, it took less than a week. I was very impressed with that. However, I found it a bit disappointing that the box was so small. I was expecting it to be a bit bigger as I was expecting it to be a bit more like Boxycharm, so it would only have full size products.
Overall, on the card that came with the box, it says that I have 3 full sized products. I have just about used all 6 of the products that came with the box, but I feel like they are very small and don't have a lot of product in them.
I have tried Dr. Pawpaw's Original Clear Balm, and so far I am happy with it. The formula is alright, but it isn't mind blowing. What I was very happy to get however, was Chella's Eyebrow Defining Gel in clear. I had never had an eyebrow defining gel and was looking around the market to find a product that would be worth it. So far, it seems very good, but I only just tried it.
The other product that I tried was from Generation Clay, the Detoxifying Charcoal Clay Mask. I found that it was a good product but for some reason it help much with the dryness. The products claims to be hydrating but it didn't do anything for me in that aspect (which is exactly what I was hoping it would help with).
I also tried a product from The Beauty Crop, I was sent the "You Go Girl" bronzer in a shade that was too dark for my (very) pale skin tone. Sure, I was sent an email letting me know about it a few days before I got my box, alongside na apology and the choice to get a 6th product for free in next month's box, or 20% off any product that I decided to buy from them. I chose the 6th product in next month's box because why not. I end up getting more products and paying less for it.
The last product that I was sent Number 4 Jour d'automne Smoothing Balm, and while I didn't really like it much I am not entirely sure if it was just me who didn't use it properly. I am quite clueless when it comes to taking care of my hair but I always make an effort. For this reason I was quite excited to try this product but I was just disappointed when it made my hair look super greasy in the areas that I applied it. But as I said, it could have just been me who didn't apply it properly.
I was impressed that I had a small sample of a Charlotte Tilbury eau de perfume, though it wasn't my favourite perfume.
Meanwhile, I know I have only had one box delivered but so far it seems a bit disappointing that the products are very small and not at all as I was expecting.
I know for the price I paid, it was quite good to get quite a few different products (none of which I had already tried, so it does allow me to experiment with them) but it wasn't what I thought it would be like.
At the moment, I will get another box, as I will get an extra product in it, but afterwards I might start looking at different subscription boxes and review them as well and then decide which one would be best.
I will write another review on the Birchbox next month, as well as I will be keeping you all updated on my thoughts on the products I haven't tried from this month's box.
See you all next time!
P.S. I was meant to take a nice picture of the box and its products but I absolutely forgot. Oh well, there's always next month.
